This album was re-released on the Subway label (U.K.) in 1989. The CD version of . . . And His Orchestra (Popllama) includes the first two Fastbacks EP's: 'Everyday Is Saturday', and 'Play Five of Their Favorites'. Fastbacks are certainly not wimps, right? Wrong.

Kurt writes: Fastbacks . . . and his orchestra . . . hmm . . . 9 and 10 were recorded on Tuesday and Wednesday July 9th and 10th, 1985 at our then well-known downstairs rehersal studio on Scott McCaughey's TEAC 4-track cassette thing. We used somebodys mixing board but don't remember whose. 4, 7, 8, and 11 were recorded Sunday, August 17, 1986 in mine own basement on Curt Anderson's TEAC 4-track reel-to-reel thing. It was pretty hot that day. That would leave 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 to have been recorded Wednesday evening, January 22, 1986 at Egg Studio (old location) by of course Conrad Uno on 8 tracks. I think it got kind of finished by December 1986 and then we tricked Conrad into putting it out on Popllama records PL-803 in June, 1987. Producers were Conrad und Kurt!!! Carl Miller, Darrow Hunt, and Tom Vail (the Prudence Dredge "handicapped" Horns) played superbly on 6. 'Set Me Free' by Andy Scott (Sweet Publishing). The "Orchestra" cover was drawn by Jim Brickell (3 cheers!!). The color band photo was taken on January 30th, 1982 by Mike Murphy. Thanks to Conrad Uno, Jim B., Curt Anderson, David Keller, Scott McCaughey and the YFF's for important stuff and specially to the great Dale Wiese for forever being there to help us out and to you for buying our first LP.

The face of the CD reads: "20 Golden Greats Series. Digitally refurbished for you today by the reknown The "I Would Like to Do That" Brothers: Gregs, Lauster. Recorded on the moon."
