Interview by Mike LaVella from Gearhead #3

GH: Looking at the Fastbacks drummers pie graph, you have the distinct honor of being Mister 2%.
D: I only play on two songs, heh heh.

GH: How did that come about?
D: They were gonna do their new record and decided to get a bunch of different drummers and I was lucky enough to be picked as one of them.

GH: They came to you?
D: That's the way I remember it. I was really apprehensive at first because I didn't think I'd be able to do it.

GH: That's crazy!
D: Just because a lot of drummers they are really powerful pop drummers, really fast and tight and I tend to be more sloppy and stuff. So I wasn't sure that I could pull it off.

GH: You play on "Back to Nowhere" a runaway hit.
D: Yeah, great songs plus I play on a UK Subs cover.

GH: I'm putting that out!
D: Cool!

GH: Which song?
D: Rat Race.

GH: That came out great, really punk! I'll send you one.
D: Please do, I'd love to hear how that came out, because when we recorded the music it was just me and Kurt, it was really kind of weird. It was just me and him for all 3 songs, so I was just like "huh, OK... never done this before," then the rest of the band came in later. So I never heard the songs until the record came out.

GH: Woah.
D: I was really pleased that I did it, the experience was quite nifty.
