Waste of Time (2:35)
They said it was such a good time for everyone to not get along
And how was everyone so right if only everyone was wrong
See the write-up in yesterday’s and all are wasted lines
Adding up the empty spaces between each wasted line
A waste of time
What a waste of time
And then it called for opinions and no-one cared to call
And so they all cried “apathy” and no-cared at all
And if I called their number “don’t send the boy around.”
It might be the end of an era if they shut down
Now I know why everyone so right when they said everyone was wrong
On the Wall (3:59)
On the wall is where I hang
On the wall is where I am again
And don’t try hard
To get down or move to better company there
On the wall it’s me again
On the wall will you still be my friend
And take my hand
Now and then and let me know
Nothing’s gone wrong with me
On the wall it’s where I hang
On the wall it’s where I am
On the wall give me a hand
And take me from the wall
That I’m on erase me
Do whatever you want with me
It’s sad to leave the wall you’re hanging on
You’ve been there for so long
When it’s time it will be clear
You won’t be hanging here again
Went For a Swim (1:56)
Mom and dad could never reason why
I’d leave the poolside finally and good-bye
They can’t understand that it was never meant to be
It used to be fun for me
So I went for a swim until the lake just boiled away
They said to go and find out how the water feels for treading on
The water’s gone!
The poolside talk was getting rather old
The wind-chill factor made it freezing cold
The neighbors nosed around but always short of my arm’s reach
I took my car down to the beach
I came back from the seashore less and less
Salt water there tastes just as good as fresh
They’ll believe me now I won’t miss the chlorine eyes
Or their stupid words too the wise
Old Address of the Unknown (3:04)
And I threw away
The old address of the unknown
I’ll spend the next ten thousand light years at home
I’ll stay away from work again today
And think of all the records that I want to play
“Not within our goal . . .
Not within the solar system I was born
And you were from
The one that I am from
From where we all have come
“And I will stay!”
Not within our goal to find another place
“Empty space is no ideal to me”
Beyond the facts there lies
Lies beyond imagination
Beyond the miracles
Beyond the skies
Finally I start to realize
Back To Nowhere (3:05)
As they say
I’m back to nowhere as of yesterday
At least they’re telling me that
Again and I’m fine knowing it now
Days they say
Are long but there’s no other way
To get through one
Have a happy day
Or something like that
Back to nowhere I am going
Back to nowhere I’ll be there
Nowhere is where you’ll find me
Because I’m there all the time
Times don’t change enough for anyone to say
“Everything will turn out okay
It all will be fine.”
brd “COATED” (0:53)
(Instrumental)
I Found the Star (1:42)
I’ve not done anything at all since I last saw you
And I haven’t had a thing to eat for a day or two
I found the star that led me to the planet where you are
And You (2:28)
It’s time to see
The clocks in every town
Around the world start spinning ‘round
A little faster now because the time is coming soon
When every things are right for me
And you
Wee ooh wee ooh
Talk about depressing
You can talk about a lot of things to try
And make yourself feel better now
Because it’s easier than digging
Out of the trap you fell into
And you do
Wee ooh wee ooh
Talk about incessive
Can’t you see it start to win you over
Getting grips on everything you do
And then it’s hard to stop
And see it slowly taking over me
And you
Wee ooh wee ooh
It’s time
On Your Hands (2:41)
Bet you never had a million years
Of time here on your hands
Bet you never known just what to do
And made the final plans
It says right here you’ve never won
And nowhere that you’ve tried
Then goes on to say you’ve never stuck
To anything you like
From falling down
Hey falling on your hands
Take yourself up and away from where you land
Bet you wish you lost the list of names
Of all your high school friends
The scene you want to disappear
Goes on and never ends
Bet you want to close your eyes and go
When they make those demands
The job you wish you never had
Right now is on your hands
I’m Cold (1:36)
I’m cold
I’m home
I’m all alone
I need some hot coffee to warm my bones
It should be light, the sun’s gone down,
All my friends are out of town
Nothing can change that I will see
And I’m bored of everything in front of me
I’m cold
I’m home
I’m all alone
I feel worse than I’ve ever known
T.H.I.N.K. (1:45)
Something that I learned today
People don’t think the way I do
And they might look at me rare
With all the torment I put them through
People don't think like me
I really don’t care about some things
The way that they do
They only think about ‘em ‘cause someone else says to
People don’t think like me
And I won’t ask ‘em to
Thinking about things they hate
Seventeen drivers in a row
None of them know anything
I look out on the street below
In the Observatory (3:37)
Remember on that day
When we were very small
We used to hide sometimes
They’d never guess it was
That’s where I am
Back in the observatory again
I’ve been there thinking
The road was never paved
Trees grew in the way
The car could never make
A trip like that today
I won’t call you here
But the phone rings sometimes loud enough to hear it
And they only charge a small fee to call me
And I’ll pick it up if I just know it’s you
What it really was
An observatory does
I think I’ll stay until
I leave I never will
That’s where I am
Trumpets Are Loud (2:29)
“My life’s an awful song!
Don’t know where it started going wrong.”
Well then come with me today
I’ll take you to where all the trumpets play
‘Cause its the sound that brings you back
Brass is just what amplifiers lack my dear
Now I know you don’t know how
Don’t you start to think about it now!
Since I’ve traveled world wide
Trumpets knew there’s nowhere they can hide
And that music from afar?
I always know where all the trumpets are my dear!
Where they are
They are they
Trumpets there to save the day!
Say your lifelines disappear?
There is nothing there for you to fear
Put that hand up to your ear
I always know when trumpets will appear my dear!
Meet the Author (6:00)
Meet the author at the shop with wheels on it
Buy a book and get an autograph on it
Saw the table there with all your books on it
There was one I swear without your name on it
The story there was one I’d read before
They woke me up I was sleeping on the floor
“The Author,” they told me
What if we never had to sleep
Think how much better our life would be
If we didn’t have to sleep
We could fit so much more things done in to day
When sleep time comes
No-one will run
What if nothing was pretty
Think how much easier life would be
If we never stopped and looked around
It would mean more things done in to day
Trying to leave the party
And I’m trying to leave the party
And I’m dying to leave the party in my head
Future Right (3:01)
In the days since I’ve been home I’ve seen the past
Come to life
Since I have arrived I’ve tried to set the future right
I woke up with a cloud above my head
And hands and feet
A dark cloud in my bedroom raining down
All over me
Unsuccessful effortless and trying
Ordinary only uninspiring
