Paranormalizedä

"Six Finger Satellite channels pure power through lead singer J Ryan, who writhes and jerks and plays his strap-on synthesizer in what might be an homage to Edgar Winter and Devo." --The New Yorker

"The weak of heart need not bother with this one, but those hankering for a manic musical assault to jump-start their boring lives need this."

--Ray Gun

"Heartless and arty where their compatriots are heartfelt and artless, Six Finger Satellite are the best Sub Pop band since

you-know-who." --Melody Maker

"Severe Exposure is the ultimate testament to advanced underground guitar technology." --Guitar for the Practicing Musician

"With wires everywhere obscuring the operation, Severe Exposure flashes a guitar band confident enough in its stage power to delve heavily into Moogs, disco beats, and panicky vocals. With mood so established, this testy compliment to evolution presses in a crazy protracted push." --Alternative Press

"Fuck but these guys rule." --Factsheet 5

Six Finger Satelliteä's 1992 debut EP Weaponä was the result of a demo tape "hoax," in which they sent Sub Pop a tape of what they figured we wanted to hear (i.e. hokey grunge). We bit, signed the sneaky quintet, and have since pretended that we knew all along.

In 1993, having shed their cloak of disguise and free to pursue their much broader designs, they unleashed their debut LP The Pigeon is the Most Popular Birdä, an experience in wild guitar-based rock with elements of Devo and the Birthday Party. Extensive touring, and the occasional assault, spread word of their transfixing live show.

By 1994 they had jettisoned the dead weight, were down to three members, and the limitless vistas of possible mutations became apparent on Machine Cuisineä, a barrier-smashing 10" recorded exclusively on electronic gizmos (that's NO guitars, friends).

1995 saw the number at four and the album called Severe Exposureä, whose blend of archaic syntheizers with a traditional guitar/bass/drums lineup fell somewhere between the previous two records. Utterly unique, but with a similar appeal to Chrome, Big Black, or the Jesus Lizard, Severe Exposureä was the party album of the year.

Years pass, yet time flies. Having attained perfection in their personal and professional lives, Six Finger Satelliteä, much like your own dear mother, now know not only what it wants, but what you need. Enter Paranormalizedä.
