It’s a strange, bi-polar sorta time here at World HQ. The entire label is mourning the fact that Sleater-Kinney is about to play their final shows, for one thing---we are all so incredibly honored to have had the chance to work with one of the most legendary punk bands of all time, and, as fans, wish we could see them play just about every week forever. On the subject of passing, Winston Churchill once said, "I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter." One thing we are excited about in the midst of this passing is getting to work with Sao Paulo’s own CSS, whose wicked awesome debut, CANSEI DE SER SEXY (the title is Portuguese and derived from a quote from my girl Beyonce; who said she was "tired of being sexy") comes out on July 11th. We know you’ll find that the super pop/tropicalia undertones of their perfectly undefinable dance/axe hybrid are exactly the jams you wanna be pumpin’ this summer through that shitty factory stereo in your convertible Pontiac Sunfire from Hertz. If you hate summer, try out Wolf Eyes’ “THE DRILLER” b/w “PSYCHOGEIST” 12”, which is rife with all the gorgeously abrasive cacophony you want from the W.E. gang---it’s out July 25th, and is a precursor to their super brutal and amazingly-titled full-length, HUMAN ANIMAL, which is out later this fall.
